overview
Hello! We are Coding the Cosmics, an all-girls FTC team from Maple Grove, MN. We are a group of girls who have been doing FTC for the past three years.
We compete in the organization FIRST, which stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. It’s all about getting kids involved in robotics. There are several different “levels” of FIRST, including FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). FLL is for a younger age group, while FTC and FRC aim for older age groups. If you want to learn more about FIRST, you can visit their website: www.firstinspires.org.
Throughout our three years in robotics, we have won the Inspire Award three different times, and have advanced to State all three years.
This year, our team would like to help our community by creating a foundation. Since it is our final year in FTC, it is a way of creating our legacy. We plan to give scholarships to female-identifying/nonbinary FTC teams, connect them to mentors, and create provide advice for them. If you would like to learn more, or are interested in donating, visit the Cosmics Foundation’s page on this site, or see our business plan.
Along with the foundation, we participate and organize several other outreach events, including our STEM night where we invite kids and adults to come learn more about our team and robotics in general. You can learn more about these events on our “Outreach” page.
If you would like to contact us to learn more about our team, robotics, FIRST, or to just say hi, our email is codingthecosmics@gmail.com, and our socials are linked at the bottom of this page.’
